Custom Services Frequently Asked Questions
- Q:
Where are your products made?
-
A:
Many of our customers prefer buying products that are made in the USA and make purchases that support small businesses. NautiUpholstery manufactures in the United States to maintain the highest standards of quality, to be able to oversee manufacturing, and to keep shipping costs and shipping times reasonable.
- Q:
What types of watercraft do you work with?
-
A:
We can work with most all manufactures. Please feel free to call us for any clarifications. We are happy to answer any further queries you might have.
- Q:
Can you help, the original manufacturer is no longer in business?
-
A:
We can duplicate most factory cushions. We offer a number of options to replace or upgrade your boat cushions or other types of cushions.
- Q:
Should the foam be replaced when reupholstering my cushions?
-
A:
The foam inside of the cushion breaks down over time and loses its comfort. If your cushions are more than 10-15 years old and the foam has started to break down, then it's time for new foam and a fresh start. If you are unsure of the foams condition, take the foam out of its cover and let it air out. If the foam smells musty, has mold or is misshapen and degraded, it’s time to consider new foam. You can always bring your cushion to our shop and we can help assess it.
- Q:
How do I accurately measure to ensure a proper quote?
-
A:
Accurate measurements are the most important part of a custom cushion project. Use a firm tape measure for the most accurate results. For measuring the width, measure across the cushion from seam to seam. For measuring the depth, measure across the middle of the cushion when possible. It is considered best practice to measure each dimension twice to ensure proper sizing. If you are unsure about the dimensions or have questions after recording the measurements, please call us for assistance.
- Q:
When is a template required?
-
A:
You will need to create a template when there are curved or arched sides involved. If you are unsure how to proceed, we are here to provide you with guidance, information, and answer any question you may have.
- Q:
Who does your embroidery?
-
A:
All of our embroidery is done in house so we have complete control over the finished product. We have the ability to create fine quality embroidery with aesthetics to your specifications, so that the finished result is custom to your boat.
